# l& `" H+ x" H9 W! `( s( P( BGetting an internet hosting account is beyond the scope of this guide, but a few things need to be said
3 ]0 X( G* m5 A* aabout internet hosting. In general, you get what you pay for with hosting. When you use a shared: K. g. M* E, L, j
host for PPV traffic, you are putting yourself at huge risk because your bandwidth is shared with  k, e  q: P2 x
whoever else is on the same server as you.
2 _, n2 D6 A2 O8 lSpeed is the name of the game in PPV traffic. Your offers and landing pages need to pop up fast3 C: W% I3 c7 M
enough that the visitor can't close the window before your pop up is even shown. You have about 3
! u! G; @8 A! P# ~- U* r( h* bseconds before the user can get that window shut. If your offer doesn't show in that time, tough luck.
( g* K' e1 T' @5 E% Y* WTo explain the difference between types of hosting packages, picture a refrigerator (the server) in a
* G( {+ P5 N1 x+ t) a8 e' Chouse full of roommates (hosting customers).
8 K; j" N2 R# G# w/ n# y' }- O! {In shared hosting, this is like having roommates where everyone has no specific designated area inside
( _8 e: `; w5 g. a# Othe fridge where they are supposed to put their food. Everyone just jams their food in however it will- E( L: u: z: L8 W% F/ }
fit.& ^! O# Q& y+ V( Z& d3 P2 i5 u* L
Say your roommate brings home a large turkey. They will then take up more of the refrigerator than
! y5 d$ j% @+ B5 a, C; ^* zthe rest of the roommates, by virtue of simply needing more space and resources to accommodate1 _) m- f) S& A# p' B  Y
their food. Everyone else's food in the house has less space to take advantage of.- F4 }% ]/ @; z5 S; R% p2 b; Z
If you have less server resources to take advantage of, your ability to serve popups will slow down. For
1 a- g* W  t+ x6 C+ y! Vany type of hosting this is a bad thing, and especially while running PPV traffic.
5 \( e3 a- ~' Z; ^" b& q0 SIn the case of a virtual private server (VPS), everyone in the house has their own designated space! R# n) s: @$ y* z' y
inside the fridge to put their food, and other roommates can't come into that space. The server is
5 v+ o0 `$ Y3 dpartitioned, so that each customer can only use a specific amount of resources at any given time.
1 A- l# j9 c( n+ c2 G' NA dedicated server would be like having the whole fridge to yourself. All of the server's resources
8 d6 ]6 S0 x: h- ^5 qbelong to you and no one else can use up those resources. This makes it possible to serve much more
' l' Q+ S  o9 _1 u- \, v/ _traffic, faster.2 d+ R# ?8 V$ p. v" |& {
At the very minimum, you need a VPS to run PPV traffic, and at higher volumes, a dedicated server.
